Red, White and Blue Dips for Your 4th of July Barbecue

Three Delicious Red, White and Blue Recipes to Prepare This Summer for Independence Day

Molly Coco
With summer time quickly approaching, it's never too early to start planning your 4th of July celebration. If you are hosting a barbecue this summer, or will be attending one with your family, consider preparing various dips for the party. Dips are easy to make and look great on the picnic table. And who doesn't love a delicious dip to snack on?

They are often one of the most popular appetizers at every party. The bowl of dip always seems to go the fastest and guests frequently ask for more. These sauces are extremely versatile and can be made with many various ingredients. Most dips use a base of cream, cheese or milk which makes them easy to mix with other flavors.

Dips are great because they add flavor to other party snacks. There are so many great foods that go well with dip. Most people use potato chips, crackers, fruit, tortilla chips and of course vegetables. The most popular dipping veggies include raw carrots, broccoli, cucumber, bell peppers, cauliflower and celery sticks.

Make your food extra festive by preparing the following Roasted Red Pepper Dip, White Nacho Cheese Dip and Blueberry and Cream Fruit Dip recipes. Put together a trio of these beautiful colored dips to serve as a part of the red white and blue theme of the day that your friends will surely love and appreciate.

White Dip Recipe

White Nacho Cheese Dip

There are so many great white dips to choose from. Many dips use ingredients such as sour cream or cream cheese which can make deciding on a white dip for your 4th of July barbecue a hard task. This recipe is very unique and uses white American cheese instead. This hot and spicy cheese dip will surprise your friends and keep them coming back for more.

Ingredients:

1 lb of processed white American cheese

2 jalapeno peppers

½ cup of milk

2 cloves of garlic

1 teaspoon of salt

Instructions:

First, clean and chop the jalapeno peppers and mince the garlic. Blend the jalapeno peppers and garlic in a food processor or blender.

Then, cut up the cheese into smaller pieces.

Next, heat the milk in a pan on the stove. Once the milk is warm, add the pieces of cut up white American cheese.

Add the jalapeno peppers and garlic to the milk and cheese mixture on the stove.

Add salt to taste and serve hot with tortilla chips or over homemade nachos.

Blue Dip Recipe

Blueberry and Cream Fruit Dip

This blueberry and cream fruit dip is great for an appetizer or a desert during your 4th of July barbecue. It's a cool, refreshing treat for a hot summer day that your guests will enjoy either before or after the main meal. Fruits that I have found to go especially well with this creamy blue dip are strawberries, melons, pineapple, apples and bananas.

Ingredients:

2 cups of fresh blueberries

1 tablespoon apricot preserves

1/3 cup of soft cream cheese

Instructions:

Blend together the fresh blueberries, apricot preserve and soft cream cheese in a food processor or blender.

Serve immediately on a platter with fresh fruit to dip in.
