Red and White Bridal Gowns: Where to Find Valentine's Day Wedding Dresses

Lauren Romano
Red is typically not a color a bride would choose for her wedding dress, but on Valentine's Day, an all or partially red dress perfectly complements the theme of the day. Deviating away from the typical white wedding dress is a bold decision and one that some may not agree with, but it's your day and it's about what you feel beautiful wearing. Whether you're looking for something different, you always wanted a red bridal gown or you feel that white just isn't your color, there are several stores and websites where you can find a Valentine's Day wedding dress that you've always dreamed about.

David's Bridal

Although David's Bridal doesn't currently sell all-red wedding dresses on their website, they do sell many dresses that have colored accents. Some feature color across the entire dress, others have small touches of color, such as a sash around the waist. My firsts pick for a Valentine's Day wedding dress is a Strapless Satin A-line with Cuff Neckline, which is only available in stores. A pleated sash ties around the waist and flows down the back. The sash is available in many colors, including red, and the dress comes in either white or ivory. This dress is a good option for brides that want a just touch of red.

The Satin A-line with Split Front and Color Inset is my second pick from David's Bridal for a Valentine's Day wedding dress. Only available in stores, the dress is available in white or ivory, has a chapel train and has twenty different color trims to choose from, including apple red. With the elaborate embroidery and large sections of red, this is for the bride that wants the color predominately featured. A red split-front inset, red embroidery and the gorgeous red sash that ties around the waist and hangs down the back makes this an unforgettable Valentine's Day wedding dress.

House of Brides

House of Brides has quite a few non-traditional wedding dresses, some of which have vibrant red touches. My pick for a Valentine's Day wedding dress is the "Bonny" style, which has a red-accented halter neckline. The bottom of the dress and the train have a thick trim of red, both of which have extraordinary embroidery and beading. In addition to their website, House of Brides currently has six retail locations across Illinois.

TJ Formal

TJ Formal not only has a large amount of dresses, but they also have a good selection of everything else you may want for your wedding day - from veils to lingerie. They also have a relatively large selection of mother of the bride dresses, bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses and even tuxedos. My first pick for a Valentine's Day wedding dress is actually a prom dress. The Alyce Designs style 6495 strapless ball gown has a sweetheart neckline and a red sash that wraps around the waist and hangs down the back. What really catches your eye is the red beaded embroidery that highlights the top of the dress. Although it's a prom dress, it can measure up as a simple but elegant Valentine's Day wedding dress.

My second pick from TJ Formal is a scarlet colored Dere Kiang wedding dress (style 1618) that is stunning from head-to-toe. The strapless, form-fitting top flows into a full ball gown with a pick-up skirt. At each spot where the skirt is "picked-up," a red flower embellishment adorns it and subtly draws attention to the beautiful detailing. In addition to their website, they currently have a retail store located in Joplin, Missouri.

Your Valentine's Day wedding will certainly be memorable, especially since you're wearing a beautiful red and white wedding dress. Considering many bridal shops carry all or mostly white wedding dresses, call ahead first to see if they have the type in stock that you're looking for. A red and white wedding dress may not be conventional, but who needs standard when you have options that look like some of the examples above.

Good suggestions! Pink and white would be cute for Valentine's Day weddings too.
