Redbox Movie Rentals: The Future of Renting Movies at Home

Sulli
Redbox is those red boxes you see inside and outside of grocery stores, restaurants, banks, drugs stores and the like. There are over 20,000 Redboxes available. They kind of look like a vending machine because that's exactly what they are. Redbox makes it easy for anyone with a debit or credit card to rent a movie in just minutes. And the kicker, it's only $1.00 a night. So as long as you return the movie to Redbox by 9 p.m. the following night, it only costs you $1.00. Sure beats paying almost $5.00 for a rental at Blockbuster!

Redbox is located throughout the United States. If you go to their website, www.redbox.com, you can type in your zip code and see where the closest one located to you is. There are many advantages besides the just $1.00 per night rental from Redbox. You can reserve you movies online, which makes checkout much faster. They carry new releases as well. You can search the actual inventory of the box you plan to go to, online, before you go as well to see what movies they carry. I also signed up for their e-mail list which sends me updates months. I also received a code for a free movie just for doing this. They run other specials too sometimes. Like on St. Patrick's Day, Redbox had a special code for customers to use that they could get a free movie rental if they rented on that day only. Also, if you sign up and input your cell phone number, they will send special promo codes to your cell phone as well.

If you go to a store and see a Redbox, the process to rent a movie is quite easy. You go up to the screen and search for the movie(s) you would like. You add them to your cart and pay. You must pay with a debit or credit card. Redbox will ask for your e-mail address and will send you a receipt immediately to it. You wait a minute as your movie(s) are dispensed and then you are on your way. Checkout is much the same process. You go up to the screen and touch "return movie" and you put the movies in the same slot as they are dispensed. It takes a few seconds for it to process and then you get a conformation message on the Redbox screen that your movie rental has been returned. At that same moment, another e-mail is sent to your e-mail address verifying that your movie has been returned. As you can see the process is quite simple. You can return your movies to any Redbox you want, it doesn't have to be the one you rented it from.

As you can see, Redbox is the future of movie rentals. They are sure to put a damper on sales for Blockbuster, Hollywood Video and the like. There is no enrollment fee to rent from Redbox. If you fail to return the movie after 25 days, the fees cease and the movie is yours to keep, which means you paid $25.00 for it.

We just started using these. They're great!

We got one of these in our little town and I've used it a few times. Parents with kids home for the summer who have exhausted the movies at their library might want to consider renting on the cheap at a Redbox kiosk.
