Re-Decorate a Bathroom for $100

Katie
Redecorating a room gives it new life without putting in a whole lot of work or time. Redecorating room by room can also be an inexpensive way to completely transform your home. You can re-decorate your entire bathroom for about $100.00

First, you'll need to decide on a theme. Using the colors already in your bathroom is a great place to start, but you can also easily bring in new colors. For example, if the tile in your bathroom is yellow, you can still go with a green theme, just be sure the pattern you chose has some yellow in it. This could be just the center of a flower being yellow, while the rest of the design is various shades of green. You tie all the colors together by making sure you have included the key color somewhere. It's best not to go too crazy with just one color; different colors add depth to small spaces like bathrooms. The theme you chose depends on your personal style as well as who will be using the room. Elegant flowers, modern stripes, or kid friendly themes, like rubber duckies, are all good ideas.

The first thing to chose is a new shower curtain. Your budget for this should be about $30.00. Target, Wal-Mart, JC Penney's or Macy all carry inexpensive shower curtains, as do discount stores such as Big Lots, Marshall's or Home Goods. Utilize your small budget well by shopping around and trying to find a good sale or discount on a more expensive, better quality shower curtain.

Next, you'll need decorative towels that co-ordinate well with your shower curtain selection, preferably in the color you are trying to bring into the room, rather than colors already existing within the room. The towels need not be exact matches to your curtain; they can just be solid colors within the same color family. You'll only need a few large towels as well as some hand towels so use your budget of about $25 well by shopping for sales at discount stores like Marshall's and Home Goods.

Next, you'll need a bathmat or small area rug. I find myself replacing these often and stores like Target carry very inexpensive ones for around $15.00 or less. Again, it should be coordinating in color or pattern but does not have to be an exact match.

Lastly, you'll need to purchase accessories to match your new design theme. Depending on the amount of space you have, shop for the best deals on a toothbrush holder, trash can, small framed prints, tissue box holder, a small vase with flowers, etc. to fill your space with personal items. You can also utilize items you already own by just moving them into the room. You should use the remainder of your budget, so roughly $30.00, on bathroom accessories, so you'll need to shop sales, discount stores and less expensive stores, like Wal-Mart.

I find that spending the most money on the key item in a room is the best way to make the room look great without blowing your budget. The shower curtain would be the key item in the bathroom; eyes will be drawn to it immediately if it has a busy, but pleasing, pattern. This way you can spend less on smaller items while still giving the whole room a great makeover!
