Redemption for Charlie Sheen? -- Charity Involvement

Wendy Dawn
Every now and then everyone needs someone in their corner. I can't get in Charlie Sheen's corner. I just don't like him, but I can point out some of the redeeming qualities that Charlie Sheen has as a fellow human being. Perhaps this will help us to see him not as an anger driven star with mega problems, but a guy who has also tried to use his celebrity and popularity to do good.

Charlie Sheen raises money for AIDS
Charlie Sheen has used his celebrity status to make appearances on behalf of a handful of charitable organizations to help them raise money. Aid for AIDS is one of the organizations that Charlie Sheen has made appearances for. Charlie Sheen also served as an uncompensated, celebrity judge for the charities major fundraising event "Battle for the Tiara, Quest for the Crown ®, and Best in Drag Show ®". Charlie joins the ranks of other celebrities like Jacqueline Bisset, Rod Stewart, Jane Seymour, and John Travolta in supporting this charity which works to prevent homelessness and hunger and improve the quality of life for individuals with HIV/AIDS.

Charlie Sheen helps people back on their feet - at least he did...
For a few years Charlie Sheen attended the annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball with his wife Brooke Mueller. The Chrysalis Butterfly Ball is one of Hollywood's most recognized and celebrated charity events. Chrysalis is a nonprofit organization helping homeless and low-income people get the training and support they need to get back on their feet by finding gainful employment. There are photos of Charlie and Brooke at Chrysalis Butterfly events up to 2009. However, following Brooke Mueller's allegations that Charlie attacked her and tried to choke her he didn't bother showing up with Brooke Mueller at the 2010 Chrysalis Butterfly Ball which she did attend wearing no wedding ring.

Charlie Sheen supports children with neurogenetic birth defects
Another of the charities with which Charlie Sheen has been associated is the Lili Claire Foundation. The Lili Claire Foundation provides supports to families who have children born with neurogenetic birth conditions. Some of the families helped by Lili Claire include those of children with William's Syndrome, Down Syndrome, Autism, and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. The foundation, along with the help of supporters like Charlie Sheen seeks to provide a comprehensive blend of support services to families and operates in conjunction with hospitals throughout the country.

Can a man, like Charlie Sheen, who has been accused of acting so brutally mitigate his actions by contributing to the general care and betterment of humanity? I doubt it. In fact, recent allegations seem to make a mockery of Sheen's charity work on behalf of individuals less fortunate than himself because, if the allegations prove to be true, Sheen is demonstrating a general lack of humanitarianism on the most basic levels.

I'm sure his support of charity organizations has helped numbers of people, I just wonder if the Charlie Sheen we have come to know of late will have time to continue his efforts to better humanity after he gets his own life straightened out.

I do believe redemption is greater than forgiveness to the person who wants forgiveness. Any one can be forgiven and in most cases should be, but redemption takes a true effort and proves a person is truly and derserves to be forgiven.

You did really well with this. I think it is sad that no one wants to get in Charlie Sheen's corner and everyone bashes him but I think it is kind of funny yet sad that his wife recently checked herself into rehab. The problems between Charlie and his estranged wife are from both of them, not one or the other. Drugs and alcohol abuse will do that.

Wendy,Charlie Sheen is a deeply troubled individual that needs help. He is carrying around a suitcase full of burdens and doesn't know how to empty it at the cross. I can't be his judge even if I wanted to but I can pray for him and that his heavy burdens of his life be lifted and taken away. Fame, fortune, and money will not solve his problems, nor will good deeds fill his need. Thanks and God Bless. ℳ.ℋ.

Sheen should do charity work anyway, regardless of what people think of him. And not as a compensatory measure, either, but as something he truly wants to do. None of it will excuse some of his other behavior, however...

Unless they live long enough, the young may never grasp the complications that trouble a man when he suddenly determines that he is old and dying without having fullfilled that inner man. Now these complications are from hell, but to the lost man, they seem real. I do not excuse our actions, I merely explain them. You do well, Wendy, in showing mercy and grace in this matter. Thank you.
