Reduce Joint Pain Naturally

Crystal Sciarini
I have suffered from joint pain since my early teens. Through the years I have tried many different natural remedies and cures for joint pain. Many of these natural joint pain remedies can be found at your local drug store or health food store.

Each remedy will work differently for each person. If the first joint pain remedy you try doesn't work fully for you don't give up. Keep trying until you find the remedy that works for you.

Boswellin
Boswellin is a derivative of the Boswellia serrata tree. Grown in India, Boswellin has been used for centuries as an anti-inflammatory. Modern drugs such as Naproxen Sodium, Ibuprofen, and Aspirin (NSAIDS) cause stomach pain. Boswellin reduces inflammation as effectivly as these drugs without the stomach irritation and other harmful side effects. Boswellin can be used as a cream and applied directly to the skin to reduce inflammation quickly.

Many scientific studies have tested and confirmed the effectiveness of Boswellin. Boswellin's natural anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties come from its active ingredient beta boswellic acid.

A recent study of patients with rheumatic and arthritic symptoms showed promising results. Patients reported reduced inflammation and stiffness within four weeks of beginning a Boswellin regimen.

Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring polymer present in the synovial fluid that cushions our joints. The Hyaluronic acid creates a protective layer for joint cartilage. Hyaluronic Acid was once available only as an injection directly into the inflamed joint. Once studies revealed that oral Hyaluronic Acid was effective at reducing joint inflammation companies began making Hyaluronic Acid supplements available over the counter.

Ginger
Studies performed in the 1970's confirmed what Chinese Medicine has known for centuries. These studies showed clinical evidence that ginger has strong anti-inflammatory properties. Ginger reduces joint inflammation and pain in a simular way to prescription and over-the-counter NSAIDS. Ginger is inexpensive and readily available at many drug stores, health food stores, and grocery super stores. Ginger is available in many different forms including teas and pills. All forms of ginger will have anti-inflammatory effects, however some forms of ginger are not as potent and will require a larger daily dose.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids
Fish like salmon, tuna, herring, anchovies, and sardines are all sources of Omega 3 Fatty Acids. Many studies on omega 3 fatty acids have been shown to reduce inflammation. Many study participants claimed to have reduced joint pain and discomfort. Research published in the British Journal of Nutrition, (Vol. 85: 251-69) showed that omega 3 fatty acids are the most effective natural arthritis pain reliever.

If you are not a fan of fish Omega 3 Fatty Acids can be taken as oral supplements. If you do purchase Omega 3 capsules remember to keep them refrigerated to alleviate spoiling.

Along with the use of herbs to reduce joint pain naturally there are a few lifestyle changes that have been shown to help reduce inflammation.

Weight loss - Excess weight puts extra stress on your joints that is why rheumatologists recommend weight loss as the first step towards reducing joint pain. Even just a few pounds can significantly reduce joint pain in many sufferers.

Reduce carbohydrates - Many studies have suggested that a diet high in carbohydrates contributes to joint inflammation. This increased inflammation leads to additional joint pain.
