A mushroom from Japan can help reduce or even eliminate nausea and increase energy. Maitake contains the chemical beta-glucan, which can rid these side effects of chemotherapy and radiation. Maitake strengthens the white blood cells, which in turns strengthens the immune system. Take 30 drops a day of the extract. To increase one's calorie intake, take MCT and whey protein, MCT is a fat and can be obtained through Thin Oil, which comes in butter, olive oil, and garlic flavors. Taking 1 to 3 tablespoons a day of Thin Oil can help reduce side effects of chemotherapy and radiation, such as weight loss and loss of appetite.
Whey protein works well for those who have problems absorbing certain proteins and nutrients. Whey protein enables the immune system to increase its effectiveness and reduce some side effects of chemotherapy and radiation. Chemotherapy and radiation attack cells in the body so taking 5,000 to 15,000 mgs a day of glutamine can protect the cells lining the intestinal tract increasing the appetite and reducing nausea. The Chinese herb, Astragalus, helps strengthen the immune system. Take 1,500 mgs a day of Astragalus. Loss of energy, lack of strength, and fatigue are side effects of chemotherapy and radiation. To increase your energy levels and stamina take 200 mgs of Siberian Ginseng three to six times a day. Make sure the ginseng has eleutherosides in it for the most effective results.
To reduce the side effects of nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy and radiation, take some Umeboshi Tea. Put ½ teaspoon of the kudzu powder in a bowl and combine it with cold water making a paste. Squash the paste, then pour one cup of hot water over it. Add ½ teaspoon of umeboski and ½ teaspoon of ginger, then pour the water into a small pot, and simmer on low for 30 minutes. Strain the mixture before drinking. Drink the tea twice a day, including one before breakfast. Green tea also works good to reduce nausea. Drink several cups a day or a 500 mgs capsule each day. Both Green Tea and Umeboshi Tea help reduce nausea by calming the stomach.
