If you suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome you know it is a painful and uncomfortable condition. Irritable Bowel Syndrome has just recently been diagnosed as a health problem. The symptoms include painful cramps in the abdomen and difficulty with bowel movements by either experiencing constipation or diarrhea. Unfortunately, medical doctors don't know the exact cause for the condition and can only provide temporary relief in the form of prescriptions. However, according to many alternative doctors there are a number of natural treatments to effectively reduce and even eliminate the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

To help reduce the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome take three or more cups of peppermint tea a day to ease the digestive tract. Taking some magnesium glycinate helps prevent spasms in the intestines, which causes the intense pain associated with irritable bowel syndrome. Next, take hydrolyzed fish protein to help repair the intestinal walls to reduce and eliminate the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. Take two capsules before each meal.

Adding more insoluble fiber to your diet will help firm stools and alleviate constipation, bloating, and abdominal pain. Getting 20 to 35 grams a day of fiber will help reduce the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. To get this much fiber, eat three to five servings a day of wheat, grains, and bran products. Be sure to introduce fiber into your diet slowly and drink more than enough water to help the fiber move through your intestines. You will need to drink more water in order to allow the fiber diet to work. Also, drinking plenty of water will help to remove toxins and allow your digestive tract to flow more fluidly.

Trying a teaspoon of butter a day may help to reduce symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. However, don't take too much and be sure to check with your doctor if you have a tendency to have high cholesterol and/or high blood pressure. Although vegetables are definitely good for you, certain kinds of vegetables produce more gas. If you eat beans, cabbage, broccoli, asparagus, and brussels sprouts, make sure you take a digestive enzyme that will help break down the nutrients in these foods and reduce gas. Take the enzymes before you eat.

Of course, if you love caffeine, drink alcohol, and consume high-fat foods you are definitely not helping to reduce the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. Changing your diet can help tremendously in reducing and eliminating the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome.
