Reducing Global Warming

M Pears
Global Warming is the gradual increase in global temperatures caused by the emission of gases that trap the sun's heat in the earth's atomosphere. This warming is the result of emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from human activities including burning of gasoline in engines of cars, trucks, minivans, pick-up trucks, jeeps, and suv's also airplanes.

The US Environmental Protection Agency say the main causes of global warming pollution are electricity generation 33.9%, transportation 26.8%, industry 18.8%, agriculture 7.6%, residential 7.6%, commerical 4.7%. Greenhouse gases keeps the degree about 33 degrees celsius warmer than it would be without these gases in the atomosphere. They call this the greenhouse effect. The heating of the earth due to presence of greenhouse gases.

Over the last century the average temperature has climbed about 1 degree fahrenheit around the world. The Artic Ice is at risk rising temperatures have a dramatic impact on Artic Ice, which serves as a air conditioner at the top of the world. Global warming is already affecting the birds, plants and amphibians too. Studies has shown that flowers bloom weeks earlier than back in the 1950's and lose their leaves 5 days later. Many birds and frogs are breeding early in season. Ways to reduce global warming try to use reuseable products instead of disposables to try and reduce waste. Recycle whenever possible paper, plastic, glass, aluminum and newspapers. Put in insulation in your walls also caulking around windows and doors this can help reduce the amount of energy you will have to use to heat or cool your home.

Less driving can help cause it will be less emissions. Using hot water less can help as well set your water heater at 120 degrees to save energy. Go to your local energy provider and ask for a report card on your energy bill and that will tell you what you need to change, to conserve all the energy that you can. Using fluorescents for light instead of incandescent light will help and it will also save money. When buying a car lots of miles by the gallon can help out. When traveling try to plant trees along your route. Planting trees in the tropics to offset the carbon dioxide that we produce. You can help fight global warming with as simple as buying a refrigerator with the energy star label on it. It is ways to prevent or at less prolong global warming but it takes us as a nation to do it, so let's save the earth. We can make a difference.
