Reebok EasyTones or Asics Gel-Kayano 16 Rating

The Best Running Shoes for Speed Walking on the Market

Lori Lane
EasyTones, the $99 pair of sneakers especially designed with a Reebok blast in shaping the legs and the buttock area versus Asics Gel-Kayano 16, the $140 pair of sneakers geared to give the best results in running with comfort, which is a better walking shoe?

First investment, the EasyTones.

These shoes have hard bottoms even though the ads offer a sense of soft comfortability. The longer the walk the worse on tendons and the head of the metatarsal (found on front sector of foot) - straight lacing does not assist with any of these issues. Extra soles only allows the heel to exit the shoe unless tied tighter than needed be. Even though it may work differently for others I found the EasyTones hard to manage when going uphill or downhill.

EasyTones were not like walking on clouds as some suggest. Actually, they feel like an everyday walking shoe with hard round bottoms. But I didn't feel anything unique except an expensive way to purchase sneakers that contributed towards purchasing a large bucket to fill with water after each lengthy walk. EasyTones? Thumbs down!

Second investment, the Asics Gel-Kayano 16. These $140 sneakers, unlike the EasyTones, requires two forms of action on the purchasers part in order to get the most out of them. Purchasing additional soles and using straight lace to adjust the pressure of the side lacing that comes with the shoes can make all the difference. Technically you'd be spending a whopping $160 for these sneakers in the end. But I have to admit, it's worth it.

The sneakers are breathable, has reflectors on the shoes themselves, contains the latest in Asics technology with Gel formations. The Gel on this particular shoe gears on the heel section unlike Gel 15's whereas they focus on other portions of the foot. I have been speed walking in these running shoes for over a week and haven't had any issues with foot pain or shin issues outside of pushing up hills that naturally would strain shins. But all in all, Asics offered a 2010 model shoe that is excellent for walking while hidden behind a large price tag on the runner's rack. Asics Gel-Kayano 16? Thumbs up!

What sneakers moves you?

You know, Lori, I used to own a gym (a ladies only gym) and we tried to get Reebok to send free sneakers for the ladies to test out. It was going to work until Curves decided to do their own branding of sneakers and we never finished the deal. I love the Reebok sneaks. cheers :)
