Reese Witherspoon Shapes Up with Healthy Diet and Focused Fitness Plan

Actress Reese Witherspoon seems to glow on-screen and off-screen, with her perfect complexion, ideal body, and cheerful face. Don't assume that it's all in her genes: this Legally Blonde star works hard for her enviable figure.

You probably know that you "should" eat your five-a-day servings of fruits and vegetables. But unless you count catsup and French fries, few of us actually achieve that healthy goal. One exception: Reese, who enjoys lots of fresh fruits, fresh veggies, and whole grains.

Photos of Reese in magazines often show her on the run, and it's not because she's fleeing from the paparazzi. Reese has a goal of exercising daily for an hour, and that usually features jogging or running. She likes to jog with her friends, chatting about their love lives, friends, and children as they run.

In addition to running, Reese gardens at the farmhouse she shares with boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal in Ojai, California. The pair grow tomatoes and cucumbers, then slice and dice them into their salads. Now that's a healthy diet!

How to follow Reese's lead:

1. Focus on fruits and vegetables when you plan your meals. For example, you could enjoy half a grapefruit or one-fourth of a melon for breakfast. For lunch, steam some broccoli and prepare a big leafy salad. In the afternoon, snack on some baby carrots. And for dinner, serve fresh zucchini steamed with mushrooms and another salad. After dinner, enjoy a crunchy apple for a snack - and that's your five a day!

2.Get going with your fitness plan. You don't have to jog for an hour a day! Start by walking for ten minutes each day. Gradually build up to longer periods of time.

3. Keep yourself motivated by inviting family or friends to join you in your fitness and diet goals.

If you don't have any family or friends who want to join you, consider joining an existing walking group or diet support group. If you have children, encourage them to walk with you and to join you in eating more fruits and vegetables. And here's a member of the family who probably would love to join you on those walks: your family dog! Take Fido and make a furry friend for life.
