Reese's Crispy Crunchy Bar: Candy Bar Review

Kayla Weller
The Reese's brand became famous shortly after Harry Burnett Reese invented Reese's Peanut Butter Cups in 1928. They became even more famous when their Reese's Pieces candies were featured in the 1982 film E.T: The Extraterrestrial and sparked a minor controversy about product placement in films. Since then, the company has tried various combinations to get more of the candy fan's dollars. Reese's currently has fourteen different candies bearing its brand. One of those combinations was released in 2006 and is called the Reese's Crispy Crunchy Bar.

Normally, I'm not that adventurous when it comes to candy bars I haven't tried. However, as I was browsing the grocery store aisles, a 'buy one get one free' deal led me to go for something new today. Since I'm already a huge fan of Reese's line of products, I grabbed one of the Crispy Crunchy bars which was clad in an orange wrapper reminiscent of Reese's traditional color scheme. I'm glad I did because I think I've found a new favorite candy bar.

The Reese's Crispy Crunchy Bar features peanut butter, chopped peanuts, and 'peanut butter candy' wrapped in a thin layer of chocolate. The peanut butter candy seems to be a softer form of peanut brittle and is exactly what provides the crispy texture. Although peanut butter plays a significant part in many of Reese's candies, it isn't as overpowering as it is with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. I've never been crazy about large chunks of nuts in candy. In the Crispy Crunchy Bar, the peanuts are well chopped and don't dominate the taste. I especially like the fact that it's much lighter and softer than its closest competitor, Butterfinger, a candy bar I've always steered away from because of its hard texture. On a scale of one to five, this bar gets a five from me.

You can find Reese's Crispy Crunchy Bar in most major grocery stores in the candy aisle. It's available in six different sizes including the regular candy bar, the king-size candy bar, a package of six, a package of eight, and a bag of small snack size bars.

I can wrap this up in one simple word. I love this candy bar. :-)

Seriously though, this is the best tasting thing I've had, and am only mad that I didn't discover it sooner. Better late than never though.
