Brother TN-460 is one such laser printer which is of good quality and capable of competing with its contemporary models yet available at very low prices. The only drawback of the Brother TN-460 model is the high cost of the replacement cartridges which can work only with certain specific models and chains of printers. The OEM consumables are sold at very high rates even as the printer units are becoming cheaper with some priced at hundred dollars or even lower.
To manage this difficulty, some third party manufacturers have come up with the OEM-compatible toner products that can be used in laser printers like the Brother TN-460 model. There are many compatible toner products that are being marketed at present and one important product among them is the toner refill kit which is a highly favored choice for users of laser printers like Brother TN-460.
So in case of your OEM toner cartridge running out of toner you can easily refill the toner hopper with new toner powder and recycle it instead of disposing it. The refilling of the toner cartridge in Brother TN-460 toner cartridges can be done to a maximum of three times before discarding them.
These toner refill kits have a very good performance capacity which is similar to or at times more than the quality of the OEM cartridges with regard to the print quality and output at unbelievably low prices. An OEM Brother TN-460 toner cartridge is priced at $80 whereas the toner refill kit that is compatible with the Brother TN-460 cartridge is sold at a low rate of $25.
Contrary to the general opinion that the refilling process is a difficult one, using a Brother TN-460 refill kit is very simple and easy. The time taken may actually be quite low than what is specified by the manufacturer. Once you purchase the Brother TN-460 refill kit, verify the contents and read the instructions given in the manual thoroughly.
With the help of the manual you can easily find the chamber cap present on the side of the cartridge. Open the cap using a flathead screw driver. Now keep the cartridge upside down and empty all the contents. You can also use a vacuum cleaner to remove the contents completely. After emptying the cartridge, hold it upright with the fill hole facing upwards and then fill it with the toner replacement powder. After filling it, recap the cartridge and wipe out any residual toner present outside. Gently shake the cartridge to distribute the toner evenly and then install it back into your laser printer. Now the printer is ready for use.
