As we approach the dawn of a new day
I look back at 365 just about gone away
The unfolded events which further create who we are,
Now just a distant memory, so close, yet so far
The joy, the pain, the confidence, and the fear
Remain only as visions in my mind of yesteryear
Have I learned from the past?
Will I make the most of this revolution?
Will I pick a new path?
Can I stick to this resolution?
I shall not walk forward with fear of things yet unknown
But walk forward with confidence knowing that I've grown
With the gift of hindsite to aid me along my way,
I'll not make the same mistakes that I've made yesterday
I'll learn to fly as opposed to fall
Make my way through mazes,
And overcome every wall
I know that I'll laugh,
And I know that I'll love
Treating every day as a gift from above
Mind open to new ideas, and meeting new friends
Loving my family, & doing the best that I can
With these ideals held dear and true
I make this resolution as you should too
I resolve to love,
Laugh,
and approach each day with open arms
To never give into fear,
and try to cause no harm
I resolve to try as hard as I can
I resolve that no matter what I'll be a better man
Now if we could all make and hold resolutions more like this
I'm sure we would all appreciate life for all it's little gifts
I look back at 365 just about gone away
The unfolded events which further create who we are,
Now just a distant memory, so close, yet so far
The joy, the pain, the confidence, and the fear
Remain only as visions in my mind of yesteryear

"The unfolded events which further create who we are,

Now just a distant memory, so close, yet so far"
This is my favorite line in the poem because I wrote it to say regardless of what life throws at you with time it will pass.
