The present taught me what I want is not always what I need
It took awhile for reality to register because I was busy chasing my dreams
My footsteps were planned but the more I walked the further I lost my way
I tried desperately to leave but it was my destiny to stay
I had become accustomed to excellence but had forgotten that even in good and bad times to always pray
The future was always on my mind while I neglected the many blessings of each day
Now that everything is quiet I can meditate in silence
I see things clearly by letting nature take its course
I have separated from impatience
For tomorrow may or may not work in my favor
But for the gift of my life I am thankful to my creator
