Reflections on the Saying: I Hope Your Kids Are Just like You!
Reflections on the Saying: I Hope Your Kids Are Just like You!
Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.
Elizabeth Stone
I have often heard from many people through my life that our children will tend to be reflections of the way that we are. This being said, our children may or will have our bad attributes and also they may have those good attributes. My oldest son, Levi, is eight years old. I am still amazed by the how much my son is like me, and I say this in reflective way seeing the good points and even the bad points that I see in myself I see these same things in my son.
Don't hold your parents up to contempt. After all, you are their son, and it is just possible that you may take after them.
Evelyn Waugh
I hear the stories of my son coming home from school and getting into trouble for talking or goofing off in class, and I see this glimmer of myself living through his personality. I hear the stories of him being the class clown and my mind is transported back to the time when I was growing up, and how much of a challenge I must have been to my own parents. The challenges of parenting and how often we learn to shine in our parenting skills honed from children who are so similar to us.
Having children makes you no more a parent than having a piano makes you a pianist.
Michael Levine
When these challenging times are so imminent in my life, I remember the patience my parents had with me growing up. I do believe that we live through our children. The advice and patience our parents had with us growing up is the seeds that our planted in us for our future parenting endeavors. This advice helps us in watering and growing our parenting skills in the future.
Home is the place where boys and girls first learn how to limit their wishes, abide by rules, and consider the rights and needs of others.

Others feelings are considered.

Every child is loved!

For all of those who have blessed by a child who is just like you I challenge each one of you to reach out with patience and love. Even though I have seen some of my negative attributes in my son, I also see the good attributes. The good almost always outweigh the bad.
My son is extremely intelligent, funny, handsome, witty and amazing. Kids are blessing from God, and I count it a blessing to share my life with a son who is so much like me even though quite scary at times.
