Refrigerator Magnet Necklace

Interchangeable Necklace

Do you have a metal washer lying around the house - maybe out in the garage? That's exactly what you need to make an interchangeable necklace that you'll love. Each day, you can give the necklace a whole new look, and it will only take a couple of seconds. When you make a refrigerator magnet necklace any magnet can be the new, fashionable look of the day.

If you use a cord you can make the necklace in a hurry. Just fold the cord in half and glue the metal washer to the folded area. If you prefer a chain necklace you can do the same thing; just glue the washer to the center of the chain. Hot glue, or a glue made for metal, works great to create the main part of the necklace. With the washer glued to the chosen cord or chain all you have to do is stick a refrigerator magnet to it. Any time you want to change it, pull off the current magnet, and replace it with another.

It's fun to make all sorts of other magnets to wear on your interchangeable necklace. When you use magnetic sheeting you'll find it easy to create necklaces of any theme. Cut a picture from a calendar, product box, postcard, magazine, or other source, and cut the picture and magnet to be the same size. Peel off the paper of the magnet and stick the picture to it. The magnetic backing makes it easy to stick it to the washer.

If you want the picture cutout to look a little more substantial as a necklace, use a small picture frame. Craft stores sell tiny picture frames that would be perfect for the necklace. Choose a round one, an oval, a square, or another. Remove the backing and the glass. Glue the cutout picture into the frame and stick it to the washer.

If you have a magnet, but no washer, you can still make the interchangeable necklace. Glue a small magnet to the chain or cord, and you can make a necklace from a wrought iron piece, a tiny metal picture frame, a drawer pull, or another piece.

The interchangeable necklace is perfect for a woman, a child, or even a guy. With so many choices of designs you can give it, and the ease of how the design of the necklace can be changed, you'll never have to wear the same necklace twice!
