One has to only look back to 1913 when the quasi public/private Federal Reserve was instituted to see how the value of the dollar has fallen. It is said that a dollar in 1913 would only be worth four cents today. This is an extraordinary rate of inflation. It appears that in the time proceeding the institution of the Federal Reserve and its Fiat monetary policy that the dollar was relatively stable. Is it time for the US to go back to the gold standard, to shut down the Federal Reserve, and to end the unconstitutional income tax?
I am not an expert economist but it does not take an advanced degree to see that printing more money causes the value of that money to decrease. The lowering of interest rates only causes more inflation in greater consumer indebtedness in the long run. Can the US stop spending itself into oblivion? The answer remains to be seen. One thing is for certain, that once people lose faith in the dollar that an economic crisis looms on the horizon. My solution would be to have the money backed by the US gold reserve. It is important to regain faith in the dollar and this should be a priority of the government and the people.
Breaking the power of the military-industrial complex:
How can we dismantle the military-industrial complex? It appears that this behemoth has too much influence on America's foreign-policy. At the time of this writing there is one man running for the president of the United States who is willing to take a stand against it. His name is Ron Paul. Regardless of whether he wins or loses the cat is already out of the bag. America is waking up to the fact that corporations and special interests share most of the control of government. Yet, this is only because many citizens are not participating in the democratic process. Once enough Americans take a stand against government corruption things will soon change.
Thanks to sites like YouTube Americans are getting the picture of what really goes on behind the scenes. Facts like General Electric owning media outlets such as NBC are revealing a true picture of what's going on. It so happens that General Electric also produces weapons for military use. So, it would not be so much of a stretch to suggest that they will have some bias in war reporting. It is essential for Americans to stop watching biased old media programming. This is one of the first crucial steps in Americans becoming more knowledgeable about what is really going on.
Of course each country has a need and the right to protect itself from immoral attacks. However, how does the country ensure that its own military-industrial complex does not force it into a war that is not justified. I believe the answer lies in their being an informed public. So, my suggestion would be for every American to become informed and to participate in spreading accurate information about what is really going on. People should go to third-party sources, the blogosphere, and user forums to get the genuine news from genuine citizens. It is through this process that an active, engaged, and informed populace can take their country back from the powers that be.
