Once I loved a sunflower
Who believed he was only a weed
And he tried to convince me thus
Yet I went wherever he'd lead
And even when he withered so
That the entire world shrank away
He only grew more dear to me
With every passing day
I loved him more, through wind and rain
And such is the strength of love's power
That when they saw just an ugly weed
Still my eyes beheld a flower
Who believed he was only a weed
And he tried to convince me thus
Yet I went wherever he'd lead
And even when he withered so
That the entire world shrank away
He only grew more dear to me
With every passing day
I loved him more, through wind and rain
And such is the strength of love's power
That when they saw just an ugly weed
Still my eyes beheld a flower

Post a CommentExcellent poetry! Love sees the inside of a person's soul. :-)
Well, I am glad that you could relate!
I know this may sound strange, but this poem reminds me of my love for my husband, who is a recovering alcoholic, but has had his many trials and set-backs. I love him so, and when I look at him, I see the beautiful child of God he was intended as.
Great poem.
