Reggae Music: Therapy for Tough Times

Bob Marley, UB40, Jimmy Cliff and More

Miss Marilyn
Sweet island music ringing pure and true. Listening to reggae may be the solution to your toughest problems. What would the fathers of reggae do during these tough times? Likely, they would gather around and create positive vibrations to help uplift our spirits. Slow tempos dealing with subjects from love and sexuality to poverty and injustice. Artists such as Bob Marley, Beres Hammond, Jimmy Cliff and more are featured.

Enjoy these inspirational songs along with their videos.

One Love: Bob Marley

Mr. Bob Marley is probably the greatest of all time when it comes to reggae music. One Love inspires togetherness and willingness to get together with one another. The message is clear as it is concise. If this message would ring clear in everyone's heart then we would be alright.

Putting Up a Resistance: Beres Hammond

Resistance is a song inspired by a man who is struggling with the system. He will not allow the pressure and the times to keep him down. As times keep getting harder, don't let them keep you down. Putting up a resistance is all it takes to beat the constant tribulation that this system brings.

Baby I Love Your Way: UB40

Perhaps we are not in lovers lane, but you will agree that at times it feels great to know that there is someone there to comfort you in times of distress. Great song for reflection or meditation.

I Can See Clearly Now: Jimmy Cliff

This beautiful song was a part of the soundtrack from the movie 'Cool Running's.' The movie was about overcoming obstacles no matter where you are from. It's going to be a bright sun shining day! Another great song for easy listening is Let Your Yeah Be Yeah.

Get Up Stand Up: Bob Marley

It is absolutely necessary to include this Bob Marley classic. Stick with it! Don't give up the fight for a better life.

There are millions of reggae songs that can uplift and encourage! Why not give reggae a shot? Many artists like Gyptian, Buju Banton, Damien Marley, Luciano, Sizzla and more have great themes that are relevant to our day. It's easy to find them in iTunes or on YouTube.

What a great list. "I Can See Clearly Now" is a favorite of mine among these; I don't know if I have heard UB40's version of "Baby I Love Your Way"; I remember when I was a boy I used to enjoy Will to Power's take on the song whenever I heard it on the radio.

Very wonderful list and an interesting job by a nice content producer.

Great selections. Every one of these is on my list of good songs, too. I LOVE reggae - so positive and uplifting. Since you like positive reggae, also try Gyptian or Jah Vision. Jah Vision is very new, but you can find him on youtube (only 2 songs). Gyptian has been around a while. I wrote about him a while back. :-)

I really enjoy reggae. Great suggestion. A little positive reinforcement from music is better than whining.
