Register for Your Honeymoon at the Big Day!

So many marriages are now untraditional. Untraditional meaning that the marriage is between two people, man and woman, who have never been married before and have no children. Many of today's marriages are beginning with children already in the picture and in many cases at least one ex-spouse is also around.

It is also true that people are waiting longer to get married than in the past. Many people are getting an education, a job, and a home of their own before uniting in holy matrimony.

With so many people already being well established with homes and needs for living on their own, wedding gifts can be very hard to buy (and receive). I can remember all of those crystal vases and dishes that had not made their way out from the back of the cabinets since we moved into our home after the honeymoon.

So where do you register for gifts when you have all of the basic living needs covered? And more than that, what do you register for? I recently had a friend that found the perfect gift and the perfect registry.

She had been in a previous marriage and new to be husband have already established himself on his own. They had two sets of everything already, why register for more? They registered for their honeymoon! This was one gift that they did not already have.

The registry was set-up at The Big Day. This website allows couples to briefly describe their history and wedding. The couple can choose their location for the honeymoon and register for everything from airline tickets to drinks to a couple's massage.

The website has help six days a week and testimonials from real registries. The site also has tips and advice to help you gain more from your registry. There are no fees to set-up a registry with The Big Day. They do charge a 9% total from all of your guests' purchases. However, if you make your travel arrangements through them, they often reduce or eliminate this charge.

The Big Day sends the money for your honeymoon in three installments. Using The Big Day registry makes guests feel that they are actually buying something for you rather than just sending cash. Many people had rather go through a registry such as this, especially if you have picked it out.

I think that registries such as The Big Day are great for today's society of marriages. I had much rather get the things that I am going to have to pay for anyway than the things that I will take back. And who knows, you might get enough for your first annivaersy trip too!
