Today, the way people have become conscious about their health so have the restaurant chef's. They too want that once a person leaves the table should be satisfied and wanting to come back soon and there should be nothing that restricts them to do so. Many restaurants have special menu items that are meant to provide healthy food with low fat ingredients. This consciousness has opened the doors of many restaurants for those who have high cholesterol.
Of course, that does not mean that the greasy food that you have not touched since the red alerts of cholesterol reports has become healthy and can be consumed. The greasy food will definitely not fit in your diet now. It will be much easier if you accept this and live with it and that is quite possible if you create a disliking for the same.
When you look at the menu you would not only find items that are fried but also would see other options like roasted and baked. It is much better to keep an eye off the fried items and concentrate more on the much healthier food. Now, don't be mistaken here, because healthier does not necessarily mean tasteless. There are certain recipes that give your taste buds a tinkle even though they are boiled or steamed and then prepared.
The roasting and baking preparations make a best substitute for the fried items. Grilled, broiled and poached foods are again a very healthy option for ensuring that the cholesterol levels are not boosted up.
While placing an order make clear instructions to keep low on oil, fats, and high sodium foods and salt. If you still find that what appears in front of you is greasy, fatty, oily or salty then be firm enough to send it back. When at a restaurant if you place an order and then when the order comes you find it is completely different from what you ordered. Would you not simply send it back? If yes, then apply it to the fatty food that comes as well.
Request the sauces, gravy and other heavy dressings to be served aside to keep a control on the quantity to be consumed or may be if you want you can completely avoid them. Another most important tip is to avoid overeating jus because the portion served needs to be finished. Two solutions for this are either order smaller portions if possible or carry a "to go" bag so you can consume desired quantity now and the rest some time later. Then comes the turn for the desserts and you get more worried. Though, there is no way that you can think of having pastries for sure, but there are other options still open for you like the sherbet and the fruit dishes.
