The first of the Reiki hand placements for self treatment is the face placement. Place the palms of the hands against the sides of the face, cupping your hands over your eyes. The tips of the fingers should rest gently against the forehead. The nose and mouth remain uncovered and exposed between the hands. Do not obstruct breathing by squeezing the nostrils. The fingers and thumbs of each hand should be held together snugly so there are no gaps between them.

The third of the Reiki hand placements for self treatment is the back of the head placement. The arms are crossed behind the head with one hand on the back of the head. The other hand should be directly below the first and just above the nape of the neck.

The fifth of the Reiki hand placements for self treatment is the neck, collarbone and heart placement. The right hand is placed over the front of the neck, gently grasping the throat while allowing the neck to be held in the space between the outward stretched thumb and fingers. The left hand is rested on top of the chest, between the collarbone and heart.

The sixth of the Reiki hand placements for self treatment is the rib placement. The hands are placed on the rib cage right below the breasts with the fingertips touching while bending the elbows back a little bit.

The seventh of the Reiki hand placements for self treatment is the abdomen placement. The hands are placed on the solar plexus right above the navel. The elbows are kept bent and the fingertips should be touching.

The eighth of the Reiki hand placements for self treatment is the pelvic bone placement. The right hand is placed over the right pelvic bone and the left hand over the left pelvic bone. The fingertips should touch in the center.

The ninth of the Reiki hand placements for self treatment is the shoulder placement. Reach over the top of the shoulders and place the hands on the shoulder blades. If you cannot reach the shoulder blades, just go as far as you comfortably can.

The tenth of the Reiki hand placements for self treatment is the mid-back placement. With elbows bent, reach behind the back and place your hands on the middle of the back. The fingertips should be touching if it is comfortable to do so.

The eleventh of the Reiki hand placements for self treatment is the lower back placement. With elbows bent, reach behind the back and place your hands on the lower back. The fingertips should be touching if it is comfortable to do so.

The twelfth and last of the Reiki hand placements for self treatment is the sacrum placement. With elbows bent, reach behind the back and place the hands on the sacral region, keeping the fingers close together.
