How To Make the Paper Cone
The basic structure of the cone feeder is the same.
1. You will need a piece of tan or brown card stock.
2. Holding the paper horizontally in front of you, fold the bottom left corner of the paper towards the middle of the paper.
3. Next, fold the bottom of the right hand corner so it wraps around the curved shape of the other side you folded in already. Adjust the paper to form a cone on the bottom.
4. Use a small stapler to staple the bottom of the cone together.
Tip: For young children doing this craft, use one or two glue dots to hold the paper together.
5. Fold those long corners at the top over to make cute little reindeer ears.
Easy Christmas Craft for Kids: The Reindeer Cone Feeder For Santa's Reindeer
The Reindeer Cone Feeder for Santa's Reindeer can be used to feed Santa's Reindeer on Christmas Eve.
Poke small holes in the top of the cone, near the ears. Stick a long, hard bread stick through each hole. These bread sticks are the antlers.
Use a piece of twine to make a handle. Hang it on a low branch in a tree in your yard.
Tell the kids it is to feed Santa's Reindeer, and that the birds can enjoy the leftovers.
Easy Christmas Craft for Kids: The Bird Feeder
It can also be used as a real bird feeder.
If there are not peanut allergies in the family, you can also dip the ends of the bread sticks in peanut butter and roll in bird seeds.
You can also use peanut butter as the "glue" to stick a couple of round crackers on the front of the reindeer cone for eyes.
Easy Christmas Craft for Kids: The Candy Cone
In addition to being a Reindeer Cone Feeder and a bird feeder, the Reindeer Cone can be a candy treat bag or a special gift wrap for a small present.
Make the cone as above, in steps one through five.
Instead of bread sticks, use candy canes or lollipops for the ears. Use scotch tape to secure them in place.
Draw on some big black eyes, and put on a pom pom nose.
Fill the Reindeer Cone Candy Treat Bag with some M & Ms, or wrapped candies, or a little gift.
