Reindogs in Cincinnati's Mount Adams Neighborhood

Dress Your Dog in Its Holiday Best for the Parade

Jill P. Viers
18th Annual Reindog Parade
Neighborhood: Mount Adams
Cincinnati, OH 45202
United States of America
I live at the top of the tallest hill in Cincinnati in a fun little neighborhood known as Mount Adams. Back in October, we hosted the Red Bull Soapbox Derby, which was a blast. Yet another exciting event is soon to happen in Mount Adams. On December 13, 2008 at 2:00 pm, the 18th Annual Reindog Parade will take place. Adorably holiday-dressed pooches will be strutting their stuff in a wonderful parade that the whole family and all pet lovers can enjoy.

There are categories for each pooch to be entered in based on his or her size, including small dogs (under 25 pounds) and large dogs (over 25 pounds). Other categories are the dog and owner look-a-likes and group entries if you have more than one pooch who wants to get in on the action.

This parade begins at the Monastery church building, down Pavilion Street, left down Carney, left on Hatch, left and up on St. Gregory, right to the Towne Fountain, and back over to the Monastery. At the end, there will be prizes, food, and more fun.

For those of us who live in the area and are unfortunate enough to not have a driveway or garage, it is good to note that St. Gregory will be closed from 1:45 to 2:45 pm (as it always is any time there is a special event in Mount Adams). For people who don't live in the area but want to attend, remember that most streets up here are one-ways, so pay attention while you're driving here. Parking will not be available on St. Gregory like it normally would be.

This pooch-filled event is not only fun and fashionable, but beneficial to animals. All proceeds will benefit the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Cincinnati. Not only does the money benefit this worthy cause, but if you're in the market for a new puppy or adult dog, there will be adoptions...for that reason alone, I should probably find something else to do that day or I will end up bringing another three dogs home!

If you are interested in the event and need more information, visit the neighborhood's local website, http://mtadamstoday.com or call 513-381-2878.

Lilly is giving you that same look Peter Billingsley had when his mother forced him to try on the bunny suit from the aunt. Sounds like a fun event, though.
