As writers we tend to have our own little corner of the world in our homes that makes up our creative workspace. Sometimes however we get stuck or enter into the mind state many refer to as writer's block. It may be necessary sometimes to shake things up and get the energy flowing if you are feeling stagnant in your creativity.
The concept of giving creative workspace a redo applies to any type of artist. Step away from your work space for a short while and even close the door on it for a few hours or even a few days if you can actually live with that much type away from your space. Take the time to clear your mind by venturing into the outdoors. Go for a walk in the park. Sit and meditate outdoors amidst nature. Then return to your creative workspace. You will probably look at it quite differently. This is the opportunity to rejuvenate your creativity by giving your creative work space a redo.
Consider what you really need in your creative workspace. It is so easy to collect clutter and this is one of the first things you want to get rid of. One of the best ways to really give your creative workspace a redo is to remove everything from the room and clean it thoroughly. Decide on a color palette and change the color of the paint according to your taste and life vibe. Colors definitely affect the way we feel, our energy level and our productivity.
Once you have repainted your workspace look at your workspace essentials be they a desk, easel, pottery wheel or whatever and determine if they are working efficiently or need to be replaced. If you like what you have clean it up and make that the first thing you return to your newly painted and cleaned creative workspace. You might want to add a colorful or soothing rug or inspirational artwork.
Lighting is major in creative workspace and if yours if not efficient and effective consider replacing the method by which the room is lighted and decide what works best for the type of work that you do.
If you have had books lying around in disorder either get book ends or a bookshelf on which to stack them neatly. Sometimes it is just creating order and stirring up the energy of creative workspace that helps us get back in the zone. Take the time to walk away from your creative workspace and return with new eyes to create the red that might just lead you to your ultimate creation.
