I've held off for so long
two long years without this torment and pain
but as soon as I saw the red beaded lines across my skin I knew
I had relapsed
relapsed into a world of fear
into a world of self-hate
I had escaped this world once,
never planning on coming back
but the anger, hate, and fear inside are calling for release
crying doesn't give me the release I need anymore
only those red beaded lines that stand out against my pale skin do
instead of crying, I bleed
instead of screaming, I cut
and its all because of some misplaced words and harsh statements
I have relapsed
and this time....
I'm far from saving

Post a Commentgood job ! your writing is pretty sweet :)
Like Betty, I know this pain too, and the relapse that waits for me each moment of each day. This is great - and Betty's right, you do have a beautiful way with words! You might also consider submitting to poetry.com; they don't pay, but they do have contests with the potential of winning money, iPods, and more. Keep writing - if you pour enough into it, you may not need the pain/blood of cutting. It helps me, anyway.

Oh yes, I know this very very well.
Addiction is the devils game, and many times he wins, not because we allow him to, but rather the familiar life is too hard to let go. Please read my poetry, I am sure we can relate in many ways. You should sign up to this poetry site, you have a beautiful way with words.
