Materials Needed
2 old socks, clean and with no holes
1 bag of long grain white rice
Needle and thread or sewing machine
Instructions to Make a Sock Buddy
1. Fill one sock all of the way with rice until there is only about 1-2 inches left of the sock.
2. Fold over the edge of the sock and sew tightly with needle and thread. (Any stitch will work - just be sure that it is tight enough the rice doesn't slip out.
3. Cover the sock with another sock, making sure the sewn edge of the first sock goes into the bottom of the second sock.
4. You can optionally tuck and fold the edge of the second sock or sew it. Now you are ready to use your new sock buddy!
Directions for Use
1. Spray or lightly sprinkle water onto the sock buddy. It should not be soaking wet, just a little damp.
2. Microwave for approximately 75-90 seconds. Since microwaves vary, if the sock buddy is still not warm, continue microwaving in 20-30 second intervals. Be very careful when removing the sock buddy to prevent burns. Use a towel or potholder when removing from microwave in case it is too hot. Do not microwave longer than 2 minutes!
3. Apply the sock buddy to your sore muscles by holding it in place. You may also roll it over the sore muscles if that helps.
4. Smile and say "Aahh, that feels so much better!"
If the pain persists, is severe, or if you are experiencing nausea, fever, or other symptoms, be sure to check with a medical professional, as the pain may be caused by an underlying condition. To reduce the risk of being burnt, do not let children or pets use the sock buddy. Never microwave the sock buddy without watching it or for extended periods of time.
