Release the Tithes

Amanda Kidd
Many Christians believe tithes were abolished with the laws of Moses, but this is false doctrine. While opposing this decree of God's, there are numerous reasons why some Christians don't faithfully pay tithes. Christians are acting out of disobedience, impoverished mentalities, or gluttony for those who simply won't release the tithes. But from testimony, an explanation is lack of faith. You truly don't believe God will bless you for your monetary contribution. Tithes are similar to faith. While faith without works is dead, tithes without obedience are wasted capital. When we claim Jesus as our Savior, expecting signs wonders and miracles, Jesus expects worship, praise, and obedience. Some Christians believe that tithes buy blessings, this is untrue, God doesn't sell blessings. You can tithe one billion dollars, but if you're unrighteous, give uncheerfully or out of guilt, you will not reap any rewards, except one billion in condemnation until your soul is renewed by the Holy Spirit.

The Word states that pastors are to receive their income from the congregation to support their families. Tithes also support worldwide evangelism, the staff, conferences, and major church services that are crucial to maintain the church. Tithes support our communities, including the impoverished, and let's not forget the television ministries. Tithes should also support the congregation. Perhaps you're in a recession with the economy; you may need financial or medical support. Isn't it uplifting to know that your church is overflowing with faithful members who are tithing in case of emergencies? Many will state that God must be blessing the pastor, but remember God works through people, the congregation is the blessing. The minister couldn't financially maintain the church unless he was financially fortunate himself. Regardless of your myths, fears, facts, or stereotypes of tithes or pastors who misappropriate the funds, your obedience and loyalty are unto the Lord. God will curse anyone who's robbing His kingdom, so be a cheerful giver of one-tenth of what you earn to God, and the good Lord will see you through any trials and tribulations. So bring the entire tithe to the church. "Test me in this says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the flood gates of heaven and pour out so much blessings that you will not have enough room for it." (Amen)

Good points made on a controversial subject. So many deny tithing yet wonder why churches don't have the necessary funding to help those in need. God bless...
