The Word states that pastors are to receive their income from the congregation to support their families. Tithes also support worldwide evangelism, the staff, conferences, and major church services that are crucial to maintain the church. Tithes support our communities, including the impoverished, and let's not forget the television ministries. Tithes should also support the congregation. Perhaps you're in a recession with the economy; you may need financial or medical support. Isn't it uplifting to know that your church is overflowing with faithful members who are tithing in case of emergencies? Many will state that God must be blessing the pastor, but remember God works through people, the congregation is the blessing. The minister couldn't financially maintain the church unless he was financially fortunate himself. Regardless of your myths, fears, facts, or stereotypes of tithes or pastors who misappropriate the funds, your obedience and loyalty are unto the Lord. God will curse anyone who's robbing His kingdom, so be a cheerful giver of one-tenth of what you earn to God, and the good Lord will see you through any trials and tribulations. So bring the entire tithe to the church. "Test me in this says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the flood gates of heaven and pour out so much blessings that you will not have enough room for it." (Amen)
