Becky Hough Killed for a Bag of Cigarettes

When I read or see the news, I am outraged at the horrors going on. Even more outraged is how so many times the family claims innocence. Shawn Heyob had numerous pictures brandishing guns on both Facebook and Myspace. Both Shawn Heyob and Bruce Aldrich have criminal records that include guns and violence. Yet, Bruce Aldrich's father Chuck Wood was quoted as saying:"I know they didn't do it," Really dad? Obviously we can see where Bruce gets his lack of conscience from.

As for Shawn Heyob, his aunt Ms. Pierce was quoted as saying: "It belongs to a boy down the street. It's from a year ago," in reference to the gun he brandishes on his Facebook page. OK Ms. Pierce, forget the picture for now, how about the fact he was just released days ago for violent offenses? Once again a smack in the face to the poor victim's family and friends. A simple apology would not have taken away what they did, but it would have been better than defending these thugs.

Shawn Heyob and Bruce Aldrich were no strangers to violence. Heyob had just been released days before the murder for felony battery, criminal gang activity according to Indianapolis Metro Police. His accomplice, Bruce Aldrich has a past record of criminal recklessness and carrying a handgun without a license. Not people I would want walking around. Unfortunately they were walking around, and now Becky Hough is no longer among us.

Becky Hough was getting ready to retire in January after twenty years of service at the South Meridian Street Village Pantry. After all those years of hard work, this poor woman will never get to reap the rewards of working a lifetime and enjoying retirement. Becky Hough was 62 years old. Thank God, due to the diligence of IMPD police both these suspects are in custody. There was camera surveillance and the stolen cigarettes will be helpful in their conviction. Hopefully they serve a long time, as they have shown they are willing and able to participate in violence.

I have been covering a story where a guy was beat to death for .50. One of the accused killers is 17 and she was bragging about having blood on her shoes.

    Such a shame.

It is too bad this kid had such a wretched childhood, but there are plenty of abused kids out there who don't go out and kill. It's not a valid excuse.

to "me" no, if you read my article I wrote that by not forcing one's child to take responsibility for their actions instead of claiming ignorance that their children were indeed violent, and show their children by example to at least stand up and say "I'm sorry" the smallest step in taking responsibility. Also, when there are warning signs, take action immediately, a message for every parent. Two out of three of my children at one point or another showed that they needed help and were going in the wrong direction (although not violent). I immediately took action, and yes it was a lot of work on all of our sides, but we all got through, and they got out of that troubled part of their lives and are both happy and successful.

Thank you "a friend" for giving me insight to things I didn't know. That is all quite sad, I do get very opinionated when I feel a violent crime could have been prevented. Sounds like he had a tough life and maybe with the proper help it could have been. I do however have to say I am a firm believer in not using a bad life as an excuse to get away with murder, I have seen both sides of the looking glass, been around both victim players and ones who refuse to let their past rule their future, yes, even in the young.

I hadn't heard about this -- very sad.

I like everyone else has been on the other side of the Tv judging people. Until it is in your face you don't know.
Shawn has had a mess of a life, that mom of his that is on tv gave him away at 3 and never looked back. His sister tossed him down a flight of stairs when he was a baby, he has been on every kind of ADHD meds ever made. Suffered from tremors when he was a baby. Yes that picture was from 2 years ago and yes we can blame some of this on the parents because there was none... Why Mary is stepping up now I don't know maybe she wants camara time.

    That's so sad.
