Relief Album to Help Japan: Justin Bieber, Rihanna, U2 & Others Donate Talent to Raise Funds for Japanese Red Cross

Julia Bodeeb
Celebrities are reaching out to help the people of Japan who experienced an earthquake, tsunami and release of radiation from a nuclear plant. Life changed very suddenly in Japan when the natural disasters hit.

Up to 20,000 people in Japan may have lost their lives. The survivors are in a very difficult situation. There is a shortage of food. Also, conditions in the shelters are arduous. The survivors face uncertainty about their future. Many people have lost their homes and everything they owned.

Celebrities Reach Out to Help Japan

Thus, it is lovely to see celebrities including U2, Rihanna and Justin Bieber giving of their time and talent to create a relief album to help Japan. Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and Jon Bon Jovi may also participate in the project. It will be interesting to see which existing songs will be used on the album, or if new songs have been created just for this project.

A Digital Album

The album will be a digital release only, notes People. The relief album for Japan will be released later this week. It is being created by Universal Music. All funds raised with the relief album will go to the Japanese Red Cross.

To see the official website for Universal Music go here. This site should soon contain information about how to purchase the relief album for Japan.

It is fabulous to see some of the top stars in the music industry reach out to help people in crisis. In the next few weeks there will probably be announcements of upcoming concerts or other fund raising activities by other musicians too.

Claire - so help them, but don't knock an effort to help someone just because they are "over there," in my experience, those who toss out that line about "helping over here" usually aren't trying to help anyone, there or here, but just complaining.

I understand helping Japan due to their horrific tragedy, but there are still people in the USA who are suffering and homeless due to tornados, hurricanes and recent floods.

I was wondering when this album was happening. I hope some of the proceeds go to Haiti who has not recovered at all.
