I picked up Redken All Soft Heavy Cream, because I have really began to take a liking to the Redken brand in general. Usually I would not spend so much money on shampoo, conditioner or treatments, but after using Redken for the first time, I realized that sometimes spending a little more will pay off.
Due to the fact that I was initially seeking out a treatment for dry hair, I came across Redken All Soft Heavy Cream, and did not hesitate to pick it up. For under $20.00 I figured if it worked, excellent, if not, this would be going right back to the store for a refund.
First and foremost, let us go over what it promises. Redken All Soft Heavy Cream states that it will deeply moisturize, silken, soften, detangle and help ease frizz. You can leave it on for 5 minutes for a deep moisturizing treatment, or for a really intense treatment, you can keep it on for up to 15 minutes, and then rinse.
It sounded just like what I needed, a deep intense treatment, so my first session with Redken All Soft Heavy Cream, I left it on damp hair for 15 minutes and rinsed.
In The Shower:
I have used many deep conditioners before, some were so thick and heavy that no matter how long I let the water run on my hair, it still felt very weighed down, and after drying my hair it looked and felt just the same.
Unfortunately Redken All Soft Heavy Cream had that same effect in the shower. My hair felt like rubber, heavy and weighed down.I prayed that when it dried, it would not feel this thick and weighted. After drying however, my hair definitely felt a bit heavy and unnatural. My hair was shiny, it did look less dry, but as a trade off, I got this really nasty rubbery feeling left behind.
The hair was not left greasy though, it just felt abnormal.
The second time I used it, I used it for only 5 minutes for a normal deep treatment. The feeling was just the same. I had to use a standard conditioner after using the Redken All Soft Heavy Cream, just to make the hair feel normal.
Overall:
The hair looks healthier using the product just 2 times, but in order to have hair feel normal, you must apply your standard conditioner afterward, otherwise it just feels like you have a lot of leftover buildup in the hair and scalp, and no matter how long you rinse, the feeling does not go away.
I'd still recommend using Redken All Soft Heavy Cream, for a deep conditioning, and to get your dry and brittle hair back on a healthy track.
