Relieve Dry Skin on Your Whole Body with this Deep Moisturizing Routine

Emily Patterson
Do you spend the winter putting on lotion seemingly a million times a day and still have chronically dry, flaky, itchy skin? I used to have this problem. My dry skin was so bad that I used to scratch my legs while I was sleeping until they bled. I don't anymore, and I want to tell you my secret to the ultimate routine so you never have to suffer with dry skin again.

Lotion after lotion and none of them last very long. Conventional lotions and creams contain alcohols that cause dryness, petroleum simply coats the cells and lays on top, and many of the chemicals cause irritation and can clog pores causing breakouts. Just go ahead and throw all of those lotions and creams away. If you keep using them, you keep causing more dryness with the alcohols they contain. Try this routine for just one week before you throw them away - I guarantee that at the end of the week, you will very happily toss them because they don't work.

Honey, oats, coconut oil and baking soda are the only things you need to put an end to dry skin no matter what time of year. If you never try it, you'll never know if it will work for you. Once you do try it, you will definitely refer it to your friends! Bookmark this article now, or send a link to it to your own email address. Because once you try it, you will be incredibly amazed and how nice your skin feels, and the fact that it is never dry again. In addition, you will want to forward this article to everyone you know.

Honey is known for its antibacterial properties. There have been plenty of studies to show that honey is nature's best topical antibiotic. According to a number of scientific studies, including this one, Effect of medical honey on wounds colonised or infected with MRSA. which states, "Full healing was achieved in seven consecutive patients whose wounds were either infected or colonised with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Antiseptics and antibiotics had previously failed to irradicate the clinical signs of infection."[1] There were many more articles supporting the fact that honey kills MRSA. Here was a study of treating MRSA with honey in an immunosuppressed patient, Healing of an MRSA-colonized, hydroxyurea-induced leg ulcer with honey. which states, "RESULTS: MRSA was eradicated from the ulcer and rapid healing was successfully achieved."[2] Honey kills bacteria and yeast both of which are responsible for skin infections. According to this report, Honey versus superbugs, the concentration required to kill most bacteria and yeast is below 50%. [3]There is a lot of scientific research that proves this over and over again. In addition, it smells really good, too.

The baking soda is included for its abrasive properties. While salts are known to kill bacteria, the honey alone is enough to control bacteria and yeast associated with most skin eruptions. The inclusion baking soda in this perfecting mix is simply to help remove dead skin cells without excessive abrasion.

Oatmeal has long been recognized as a beneficial ingredient to skin care. I found one study that explains it all in one sentence, Colloidal oatmeal: history, chemistry and clinical properties., "Its many functional properties make colloidal oatmeal a cleanser, moisturizer, buffer, as well as a soothing and protective anti-inflammatory agent."[4] That sure is simple.

The last ingredient, coconut oil, is an emollient. Emollients help soften and moisturize the skin. Again, there are many scientific studies to show that this is true, and very well documented. Here is only one, A randomized double-blind controlled trial comparing extra virgin coconut oil with mineral oil as a moisturizer for mild to moderate xerosis. "RESULTS: Coconut oil and mineral oil have comparable effects. Both oils showed effectivity through significant improvement in skin hydration and increase in skin surface lipid levels. Safety was demonstrated through no significant difference in TEWL and skin pH. Subjective grading of xerosis by the investigators and visual analogue scales used by the patients showed a general trend toward better (though not statistically evident) improvement with coconut oil than with mineral oil."[5] Exerosis is the medical term for dry skin. Mineral oil is defined quite well in Wikipedia, "Mineral oil or liquid petrolatum is a by-product in the distillation of petroleum to produce gasoline."[6] Coconut oil is from coconuts. Mineral oil, or petrolatum, is a petroleum by-product. Which do you want on your skin?

Now that you understand the ingredients, here is how you end dry skin all over your body - forever. Forever does not mean that this will 'cure' your dry skin. Forever means that as long as you make this part of your routine, and stop using soaps, scrubs, lotions and creams that contain alcohols and other proven irritating, drying chemicals such as sodium laureth sulfate, this will keep you from ever experiencing dry skin again. Honey kills everything, baking soda exfoliates, oats improve skin condition and coconut oil moisturizes. You don't need any of those expensive products anymore. So you will save a lot of money, too!

Face:

Warm skin and soften dead skin cells with hot compresses. Hot compresses are simple a very warm washcloth. Do this for about 3 minutes.

Rub honey all over your face. It smells great and feels really good.

Add a half teaspoon of baking soda and a teaspoon of powdered oatmeal to your hands and rub on your face. Add water as needed to keep the honey soft.

Rinse and blot dry with a clean towel.

Apply a thin coating of coconut oil to your face. Coconut oil is solid at room temperature. Your hands will be warm enough to soften the coconut oil. All you need is a thin coating. Allow this to penetrate for a few minutes and then wipe off any excess with a clean towel. You can use the same one you used to dry your face.

Lips

Just rub on some coconut oil. Yes, it is that simple.

Hands

Wash your hands with honey, powdered oats and baking soda instead of soap. Remember, the honey is killing all the germs. The baking soda is removing dead, dried skin cells. Apply a bit of coconut oil to your hands. Just a thin film is all you should need. For deep moisturizing, use a lot of coconut oil on your hands before you go to bed. Put on a pair of cotton, true cotton, gloves or mittens. The difference in the morning will be amazing!

Legs

While in the shower, scrub with honey, oat powder and baking soda as you did for your face. I just pour some of each in the washcloth and scrub. After your shower, rub on a good coating of coconut oil. No more dry legs. Just perfect silkiness forever.

Feet

Soak in warm water for about 15 minutes. Apply honey, oats and baking soda to your feet and scrub them to kill germs, improve skin health and remove dead, dry skin cells. Apply a coating of coconut oil and soak your feet in warm water for another 15 minutes. Towel dry and add another coating of coconut oil. Make sure to put on cotton socks so you don't slip with your oily feet.

Knees and elbows

While in the shower, scrub with honey, oat powder and baking soda as you did for your face. Apply a generous amount of coconut oil to the dry skin of your knees and elbows.

Everywhere else

Scrub with honey, oat powder and baking soda on a washcloth. Towel dry. Apply coconut oil No more dry skin.

There you have it, the ultimate in dry skin relief. Try it for one week, then refer it to a friend...and throw away all the lotions and creams that not only don't work, but also contribute to the problem of dry skin with irritating chemicals and alcohols.

Enjoy!
