Relieving Daily Neck Pain

Josue Rodriguez
Neck pain affects many people every day and is one of the main reasons why people visit their chiropractor. The main cause of neck pain is irritation of the cervical nerves and the stress put on muscles. The neck and cervical area consists of seven vertebrae, which bear the weight of the head. The pain in the neck can begin in the vertebrae, such as nerves, discs, ligaments or muscles. When the pain comes from nerves, may experience tingling in the arms, dizziness, headaches or back and may also show high loss of strength in hands.

The causes of neck pain are a daily practice that we do like having, a bad posture to sit in a chair in the car, and even sleeping. When you are sitting at work for eight hours or more per day, when performing repetitive motions, the error of using several pillows to sleep and sleep upside down. It may also be related to sudden movements such as those that occur in car accidents or practicing any high contact or impact sport.

Emotional problems such as daily stress and tensions also cause neck pain. Moreover, the nature of degenerative disorders such as herniated discs, arthritis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia and scoliosis can cause neck pain. Other causes could be the bending of the neck and previous lesions. Several things can be done to treat this injury, like the application of heat or cold, passive, massage, traction, wear a cervical collar, physical therapy or anti-inflammatory medicines, relaxing, injection and surgical methods in extreme cases.

But there are also options in natural or complementary medicine. One good option is the chiropractic, which is based on a philosophy that the body has the ability to heal itself and get the balance right. Rest and immobilization also helps in muscle relaxation. By changing the bad habits of posture helps more than the above since it eliminates the problem that is causing the pain. If you have a very strong neck pain, you should see a doctor because you might need to take physical examinations such as CT scan, electromyography and radiography, to determine the causes of neck pain.
