Religion: Would You like Fries with That?

Today, we have a myriad of religion. Based on belief and upbringing an individual belongs to a "church" or religion, or they choose to not believe. Each religion has negative things to say about the other. But the truth is, none of those religions portray the Truth. To best explain this malfunction in society, I will use allegory.

In the beginning was the hamburger. First, there was McDonald's, then Burger King, and finally Wendy's. Each of these groups professed to having the absolute best hamburger and yet when you boil it all down, they all use beef, bread, vegetables, and condiments. The only difference is the way it is presented. No matter which place you visit, you still get a hamburger.

Each of the three insist theirs is the best way to make a hamburger and that all the others are wrong. So, how do you decide which one you want? The answer to this is personal preference and what you grew up with.

Would McDonalds help Burger King or Wendy's help McDonalad's? No, they won't because they compete for the same customer. Imagine for a second what would happen if they combined efforts and tried to create the perfect hamburger. The result could be truly amazing.

So how does this story relate to the religion? The three main Abrahamic religions behave the same way. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all three worship the same God. All three await the arrival or return of the Messiah or Jesus. Yes, Islam recognizes and awaits the return of Jesus.

They worship the same God, they await the return of a Messiah, they all promise reward and riches in the afterlife for those who are good in this life. The only difference is in the presentation, the end result is that everybody still gets a hamburger.

Why then do these three religions hate each other so much? The answer is they compete for the same "customer". Is it really about saving souls or is it about money and power? Imagine a world where these three religions united to actually save people and make the world a better place instead of worrying about increasing their own market share.

So, what would happen? To answer that, I will refer you to the bible in which Moses and Aaron spoke with the Pharoah and asked him to let their people go. Aaron (or in the Hebrew custom, Moses) threw down the staff and it turned into a serpent. The pharoah was unimpressed and ordered his priests to do the same. As the serpents were writhing on the floor, Aaron's serpent consumed them all.

This story symbolizes the crux of the religious situation. In the beginning there was One. In the end there will be One again. Each religion proclaims to have the Truth, and based on that the truth you prefer you embrace that religion. The real truth shows that there is only one Truth and that truth will consume all others.
