Religious News:

Comedy Central and "JC"

Benjamin Ira Mikell
Comedy Central, well-known for its contributions to society in producing a variety of television series programs such as "South Park," and its most recent addition about Muslims, is planning to create a series of episodes called "JC" that portrays God and Jesus Christ in a comedic manner.

In a press release dated May 6 that was published on its website, Comedy Central says that "JC is a playful take on religion and society with a sprinkle of dumb." The series, according to Comedy Central will show Jesus Christ angry with God, His Father, and leaves Heaven after 2,000 years to live in New York City. In other words, it portrays Christ as being dissatisfied with being the Son of God and dwelling in Heaven. In addition, while "JC" is on earth living His own life as He sees fit, God is busy entertaining Himself with video games.

Mocking our Lord, and Savior, Jesus Christ, is not new. This act of irreverence has been done since the day Jesus was born on this earth, lived and preached about the new kingdom and covenant and was crucified on a Roman cross between two thieves. In addition, we should not be surprised each time anyone creates a new way of making fun of Christ, and Christianity, in general.

Let us pray about this issue and discuss the matter with Comedy Central in a spirit of meekness and gentleness in order to persuade them to abandon their plans to create and televise this new series.
