Religious Perfume 'Virtue' Claims to Have Scientific Backing

Perfume as a spiritual tool has never before been a marketing focus. Dr. Richard Axel M.D., a Nobel Prize winner for his olfactory research, indicates that as much as 5% of all of our genetic materials goes into the makeup of our sense of smell, more than vision or hearing. Scientific findings indicate a new niche for so called religion perfume. Virtue perfume and it's inspirational concept just might be on solid ground after all with olfactory research, Associative Behavior and the Bible, claims in a press release on PRNewswire today.

Virtue perfume is created by I.B.I. of Orange, California. It is touted as the first "Spiritual Perfume," available for sale. "Virtue was created to be a reminder for Godly focus and helps a person connect to God through a fragrance. We developed it for anyone seeking a relationship with their Creator," said Vicki Pratt, President of I.B.I. located in Orange, California. "No wonder God made a Holy Incense as a signature fragrance to be identified with only Himself," continued Ms. Pratt. "It's like your memories of a favorite, loving relative who always wore her favorite perfume. Every time you smell that fragrance a memory gets relived with warm, fuzzy emotions. Such a response was imprinted and enhanced over time, one fragrant moment, after moment. A simple association on the surface but the revived memory, has a profound effect on the mind and emotions, causing changes in our bio-chemical makeup. This imprinted response is how Virtue perfume can recreate and reconnect to your spiritual experiences spontaneously".

Virtue perfume was first introduced at The Miss Anaheim Pageant early in 2007. The company will unveil a Virtue body lotion in a few weeks. You may find out more about this perfume at www.virtueperfume.com.

Several oils in Virtue can cost up to $4,000 a kilogram, making this perfume much more expensive than many other department store perfumes. The perfume combines nature oils that blend with a person's body chemistry and makes a signature fragrance all of it's own, unique to that person. The perfume contains a mixture of fig, apricot, pomegranate, exotic woods and Frankincense, Myrrh and Spikenard.

Various forms of incense have been linked to different religious celebrations and rituals for thousands of years. In Biblical times, types of incense were used to connect man to God and used for purifying and making one ready to pray or worship. Perfumes and spices have also been used throughout the world to prepare the deceased for burial. The Bible tells us that when "the three wise men" sought out the baby Jesus after His birth, they gifted Him with Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh, which were also routinely used for burial preparations.

The buying power of the Christian dollar has created a lucrative market for what has previously been considered mostly secular products.

INteresting. I know they use marketing ploys to sell those perfumes, but I still love them.

I have to agree that this is a marketing ploy -- ie: individuals are profiting by touting "spirituality". It sits wrong with me, but to each his own.

Wow, that's a new one! I dunno if I believe though. It seems like one of those studies where they get the data to say whatever they want...thanks for the report!

If you want to be biblically inspired just use olive oil. :-) Interesting read.

I don't think I would be willing to fork out all that money for perfume.

I think it is a good marketing strategy. Just as when we buy a perfume that is said to drive men wild and make you feel sexy. They tell you that is what it will do therefore I think we believe it. There are certain perfumes that I wear at certain times because of the way they make me feel.
