Relly Awards for "Regis and Kelly" Show Announced

Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa, hosts of the syndicated "Regis and Kelly" morning talk show, have announced the nominees for the Rellys, awards dedicated to the best live moments on the "Regis and Kelly" show. This is the fifth year of the Rellys, where the audience votes for the winners at RellyAwards.com. Winners take home a special trophy known as the Golden Stool.

Most categories have a lot of nominees. For instance, the "Best Regis" award has 10 to include Regis himself. He has yet to win this award. Best Host Chat is for, well, the best host chat that happened on the show this year. There are nominees for favorite Real Person, male and female, which involve non-celebrities that were either on the show or were live via phone call. Real people also make up the list of Favorite Go-Go Dancer nominees. For those who don't watch "Regis and Kelly", they give away vacation prizes during the show in a segment called "Trivia a Go-Go". Usually an audience member dances to Go-Go music behind a screen. The best members (not necessarily dancers) are nominated in this category.

Not only are real people nominated, real animals get in on the Rellys as well. The Best Non-Human Guest category includes a miniature horse, four dogs, a celebrity frog and some reindeer.

Celebrities are all over the nomination map of the Rellys, but one of the more interesting categories is the one of Celebrity Hidden Talent. Although some didn't seem too unbelievable, a few nominations could surprise those who don't regularly watch "Regis and Kelly". Jim Belushi of "According to Jim" has talents as a Yogi; Neil Patrick Harris from "How I Met Your Mother" slides in as a backup singer, and Jeremy Piven of "Entourage" fame made his way into the category as a fitness motivator.

Voting will take place between August 27^th and August 31^st. On each of those days, the "Regis and Kelly" show will feature certain categories. Fans will have until midnight of each day to vote on those categories.

Regis Philbin has been a host of the show since 1983 when the show was called "The Morning Show." He had several co-hosts, most notably Kathy Lee Gifford. The show became known as "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee" until 2000 when she left and was replaced by Kelly Ripa.

Kelly Ripa's career gained fame when she starred as troubled teen Hayley Vaughan on the daytime soap "All My Children", where she met her husband, then-costar Mark Consuelos. She also starred on the TV sitcom "Hope and Faith" for three seasons.
