Depending on your current career path, you may find it rather easy to find a job in this often overlooked city. The main employers for the residents of Casper, Wyoming are:
· Natrona County School District
· Wyoming Medical Center
· Key Energy
· The Industrial Company
· City of Casper
· Wal-Mart
· JW Williams
· Office Max
· Casper College
· Wyoming Machinery Company
If you are interested in obtaining a job with the Natrona County School District, you can find out more information about how to apply, and what positions are currently open by visiting the website, at http://www.natronaschools.org. Currently, there are many positions open, according to this site, including elementary teachers, substitute teachers, special education teachers, coaching positions, administrative positions, and even positions in the cafeterias. So, if you were interested in this type of work, you have lots of openings to apply for.
Wyoming Medical Center has lots of opportunities for those looking for work and you can find out more about openings and benefits at the medical center website: http://www.wmcnet.org/. Following the links on the left side of the page, you can find out about employee benefits, and of course, job openings. Once you click the link for openings, you will be taken to a page that has various categories, and you just click on the category that you would be interested in applying for, such as nursing. Once you select the category and hit the search button, you will see a listing of all the job openings in that category. If you click on the hyperlink where the job title is, you will be taken to a page that tells you more about that job, whether the job is full or part time, shift information, and required education, experience, and credentials. You will also find a link at the bottom of the page where you can apply for the job, if you are interested and meet the requirements specified. Searching for job openings is really easy using this system, so it shouldn't take you long to find and apply for any positions you are interested in.
Energy is something that will always be in demand, at least until we come up with alternative power options, so this would be a fairly stable career path to choose. Key Energy provides power and energy services to Wyoming, and you can find out more about the company at their website, http://www.keyenergy.com/. The careers link at the top of the page will take you to their employment section of the website, where you can find out more about benefits, training, and job openings. It takes a little bit of navigating to find what you are looking for using the browse jobs search feature, but it is possible to find out how to apply for jobs, and what positions are currently open.
The Industrial Company, or TIC, is also a great company to work for, if you are interested in engineering and construction. The nice thing about this company is that they offer internships, and have many jobs available for recent college graduates as well. This is one of those companies that offer positions for everyone, from entry level, to management. If you can get your foot in the door, and make the most of the opportunity, you can go all the way. To find out more, go to http://tic-inc.com/.
The City of Casper website doesn't provide information about specific job openings, but you can put in a city application, and apply for the police department and fire department. Using the human resources link at the left of the page, you can find information about how to apply for the city, and employee benefits. The site also has lots of useful information for those looking to move to Casper, so it would be good to check out, even if you weren't considering applying for work. You can find the site at http://www.cityofcasperwy.com/.
Almost everyone is familiar with Wal-Mart and Office Max, so I won't go into great detail about those companies and how to apply. Most applications are taken online through the company website, or you can go to the store, usually, and apply there, using a computer they have setup specifically for that purpose.
JW Williams is a company that values its employees, and offers many benefits. It can be difficult to get in the door, because this company doesn't have a high turnover rate. Currently, the website shows one job opening, for a welder, but it would be a good idea to keep checking the site if you were interested in working for this company. http://www.jwwilliams-flint.com.
Casper College has many openings as well, and you can check those out at http://www.caspercollege.edu. Currently, they are looking for instructors, campus security, and assessment employees. One benefit that the college provides for applicants is that if you are called for an interview, they cover half of your travel expenses, and if you are hired, all of your travel expenses for the interview and hiring process. They don't help pay for your relocation, but not many companies even offer to help cover a portion of your expense for interviews, so this is an unusual perk.
Wyoming Machinery Company is another one of those employers that have lots of opportunity, for those individuals skilled in this type of work. Currently, the website shows job openings in Casper, Wyoming for a Component Rebuild Center Technician, Shop Technician, and a Contract Information Specialist. You can see all job openings by going to http://www.wyomingcat.com. If you click on the job title name, you will be taken to a page that tells you more about that position, including job responsibilities, qualifications, education, experience, and detailed info about the work environment for that specific job. You will be able to submit an online application for any position you are interested in, and can apply for more than one position, as the site is updated with new postings.
As with any city, there are lots of job openings, it is simply a matter of what you are looking for, and qualified to do. The companies listed here are not all of the employers with openings in Casper, Wyoming, so it would be a good idea to check the newspaper for current openings, and to contact the Casper ESC for even more opportunities. It is nice to know that with today's unemployment rates so high; there are cities like this where opportunities abound, for those willing to take a chance on relocating for work!
