Relocation Tips

Rik Rodriguez
Many of us have relocated several times in our life's. I know that my family has relocated several times for one reason or another. It always seemed helpful to research the area that you are planing on moving to. Find out about the schools, stores and jobs in the area. I also try to check out what type of services are available in the area such as car repair. You know just in case I need to use them. I also thy to ask people for some kind of recommendations. Maybe you have a friend of a relative that uses a reputable contractor in the area. This can save you plenty of headaches in the future.

Also check out the transportation situation in the new area. Find out if you can catch a bus or train to your new place of employment. Again just in case you need to have car repairs and you do not have the use of a car for a week or two, its nice to already know your options. It seems like the more you are prepared to handle situations that come up the easier time you will have solving your dilemma.

If you are relocating to a new home its always a good idea to pick up a few tools. I recommend that you have a hammer, two screw drivers at least. Also pick up a pliers it will come in handy. You don't want to be calling a repair person when you can easily figure out how to fix a few things yourself.

Check out if you are going to have an Internet connection, I found out the hard way that still many cities in the USA do not have good Internet availability. In fact my friend who travels around the would says India has a better Internet and cell phone availability that the USA. Yes amazing isn't it. So make sure you have high speed where you are moving. I moved to Florida a few years ago and it took over 2 years to get a high speed connection. I was less than a mile from US 1. Supposedly one of the major roads in Florida. I had to settle for dial up.

If you become more educated about the area that you are going to move to you will have a smother transition. The more you find out before you move there the better you will be prepared to meet any new challenges.
