Relvon Fire & Ice Collection Nail Enamel

Needs Two Coats for a Professional Look

Susan Slade

CVS had another one of their great offers. I bought the Revlon Fire & Ice Collection Nail Enamel, original price of $5.50, on sale at $4.99, and then I received a $4 coupon at the cash register, to use on my next purchase. At 99 cents, this brand name nail enamel is cheaper, than a generic one.

The bottle is really elegant. The bottom half is glass, and has the nail enamel in it. Then the top, which has the brush on it, is black with a silver band, close to the bottle. Revlon is in black lettering, which stands out.

The color I chose is #166, Temptress. It is a pale pink, which goes with most of my clothes.

I wanted to wear the nail enamel to a dance, so I unscrewed the cap, and carefully lifted up the brush. The brush is good quality, and only a small amount of nail enamel was on it. I brushed one side of the nail enamel, onto the edge, of the inside of the bottle.

I then made three strokes across my thumbnail. The Revlon Fire & Ice Collection Nail Enamel didn't cover that well. I had streaks on my nail. I had to go over it again, to remove most of them. I then finished the other nails on that hand.

I did buy 60 Seconds Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel recently, and when I compared it to the way that nail enamel went on, I was disappointed with this one. I did the other hand, and let it dry. The Fire & Ice Nail Enamel dried quickly, but not as quick as the 60 Seconds one. However, it didn't cover in one coat. That is the big difference between these two nail enamels.

I had to apply a second coat, to get the quality of nail cover, that I expected from it. Once this was done, my nails looked good, and it had hardened my nails. I am lucky enough to have naturally long nails.

My nails didn't start chipping for five days, and then I removed it with a good quality nail polish remover.

I couldn't read any of the writing on the Revlon Fire & Ice bottle, so went to their website. This is what they say about the product:

"Try the Revlon Fire & Ice collection, shades include: All Fired Up, Siren, Temptress and Demure. Each shade in the collection features Revlon's original scripted logo. Collect them all!

Revlon Nail Enamel gives up to 10 days of lasting color & shine. Revlon's exclusive silk-protein shield works to instantly help even out the surface of the nail while rising above color to automatically smooth away bubbles, streaks and brush marks."

They suggest that you use Revlon Base and Top Coat to acheive these results.

I am staying with the 60 Seconds Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel, as it only needs one coat, dries almost immediately, and lasted a full week. The Revlon Fire & Ice Nail Enamel will go to my grand-daughters in England.

If you are planning on buying a Revlon nail enamel don't waste your money on this one, when they offer a much better alternative.
