Fish Oil to Cure the "Incurable"
Years ago I learned about the benefits of good oils, necessary for the prevention and cure of childhood seizure disorders, as my son suffered with absence and febrile seizures. Good oils such as olive oil, nuts, avocado, and fish helped rebuild the myelin sheath, surrounding nerve fibers, insulating receptors from interrupted signals, which causes seizure activity, more details are in "Childhood Neurological Disorders Can Have Unexpected Natural Cures".
With the myelin sheath repaired, the brain can once again send smooth, uninterrupted transmissions throughout the body, without the use of harmful seizure-suppressant drugs. As exciting as the seizure-free discovery was, new studies now show that good oils are heart-strengtheners, and that fish oils can also combat and cure leukemia!
Curative fish oils, used to combat the blood-cancer disease leukemia, are scientifically explained in the Newsmax article "Can Fish Oil Cure Leukemia?" However the benefits of eating fish and/or taking fish-oil supplements are not confined to helping cure heart disease and leukemia, when used along with other good-oil sources listed above, also help fight acne and psoriasis!
Seafood Offering the Most Benefits
According to the book "Feed Your Skin, Starve Your Wrinkles" by Allison Tannis, M.S., R.H.N. (Tannis, 2009) the healthiest fish to eat are "sardines, anchovies, salmon, and mackerel which are higher in the omega-3 fatty acids called EPA and DHA." Also declaring "the higher levels of mercury found in fresh tuna, swordfish, shark, grouper, orange roughy, and bluefish are negligible and not a concern."
Ms. Tannis continues "the real concern is farmed salmon contaminated with toxic chemical compounds, making wild salmon the better option", and recommends "eating fish more often, ideally 2 to 3 times per week, or include fish-oil supplements." I can tell you from experience that fish oil supplements taste horrible, and it is a taste that stays with you a long time.
Knowing that fish-oil supplements taste so bad, and that there are so many delicious ways to prepare and eat fish, shouldn't you really be eating more of it? But if you need more reasons to eat fish - how about all the reasons given in the book "Top 100 Foods for a Younger You" (Merson, 2007)?
Ms. Merson states in her book important reasons for eating more salmon, sea bass, sardines, herring, haddock, oysters, and shrimp. (I'm paraphrasing and condensing) "Seafood contains protein, calcium, iodine, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals necessary for regulating body metabolism, skin, hair, nails, bones, and overall health."
Beauty Benefits of Eating Fish
Could fish be an important key to "turning back the clock" of beauty, as these books suggest? By eating more of the seafood varieties listed above, both books claim better health with beautiful results, such as wrinkle reduction, weight management, less puffiness, smooth skin and nails, plus thick, shiny hair.
If you are new to the joys of seafood, you could try these 2 easy recipes; "Romantic & Heart-Healthy Valentine's Dinner" for poached salmon or for coconut-lime shrimp try making this "Festive Baja-Style Cinco De Mayo Dinner". Other healthy ways to eat seafood and shellfish are found in sushi rolls and clam chowders (New England white or Manhattan red).
Learn to love seafood, along with the renewed health and glowing beauty it can bring to you and your family. Why not take your family out for a fun day of fishing at nearby lakes and streams, or along the coastal shoreline with poles and net, and try catching your own super-food for dinner?
