Remeberance

K.M.Baving
The days we used to play

You soaking up the attention

Lost in the moment

Using such great imagination

Feeling on the top of the world

Seeing such joy in your expression

I remember

Teaching you how to pray

Watching you closely as you focus so hard

Trying to remember every word

Repeating phrase after phrase

Until you gained your grasp

To personalize your prayers your way

I remember

When you began to read

You were determined to read each word

Even if you didn't know how to say it

I would correct mispronunciations

You would repeat the word until you knew

That you had it just right

I would read you stories

Could see your lips move

As you would read along quietly

Reading you bedtime stories every night

Before we knew it

You began wanting to read me the bed time stories

I remember

Such dependence from you

That quickly turned into great independence

Playing games, puzzles and reading books

Now in the past

More mature and growing up

Too quick for my eyes to believe

Cherishing those young years of you

The remembrances

Will always be tucked deeply into my heart

As well as my mind

While I now have to listen to the whines

And growing up attitudes

Since you can't always have it your way

No matter how grown up you are

Making these new memories

Seeing all of the accomplishments

From the hard work and determination

That you worked hard for to gain as a youngster

Such great talent and spark in your eyes

Good and rough times

They all will be great remembrances
