When your baby starts crying you may want to make noise to distract him or her. Noise may startle your child and his or her attention will be drawn to the noise maker. When startling your child, the noise may scare your child and he or she might cry more. It may be worth the chance, however, if your child has been crying for a while.
Sleep may remedy your child's crying. Turn the lights down low and keep the room as quiet as possible. Let your child relax and the crying might dissipate.
One thing that comforts most babies and toddlers is food. If your baby is crying and you have not found a remedy, you may want to prepare food for the baby. However, before feeding baby, he or she needs to stop crying. You do not want baby to choke, and you do not want baby to spit the food on you. Show the baby the food and he or she may stop crying in anticipation.
A drink could be a remedy for baby's crying as well. Babies get thirsty when they are screaming for long periods of time. You might want to give baby something to cool him or her off and soothe the throat.
One remedy for a crying baby is to stick something in its mouth. We used to say "plug the hole." Pacifiers work well for this. If your babies use a pacifier, the sucking usually calms them down.
Playing with baby will take baby's mind off whatever is wrong. If you play with your baby while he or she is crying, your baby will notice you. Playing may remedy your crying baby.
All babies need attention. If you hold or talk to your baby he or she will probably stop crying. You can remedy the crying with a little love and attention.
Changing your baby's diaper or clothes while he or she is crying will stop baby from crying. Baby will wonder what is going on and be distracted from the crying festival he or she was having.
The best remedy to stop a baby from crying is to fix the underlying problem. Most babies cry for a reason. Your baby may be tired, hungry, bored, hot, cold or in pain. Try to figure out what is wrong with your baby before you remedy the crying.
