that settled in my chest
The towers burned
and then they fell;
I cried like all the rest
Each able bodied person
flew their flag half mast.
And patriotism
poured like rain;
opinions, they were cast
"We must fight back and show them
Americans we are!
We'll strike the heart
of terrorism
in corners near and far!"
Now cries are heard
"Its gone on too long!
Our reasons are not just!"
But each soldier has their reason
Remember this, we must
For honor, pride and country
called on to leave their home.
Let's not forget the fallen
in the silence of their tomb
Would you let them fight this war alone?
Will you let them die in vain?
Condemn them not
and don't forget
that freedom comes with pain
Will you turn your back on soldiers
who fight this ugly war
Or will you stand up;
shake their hand;
salute them evermore?
Let's not forget the empty ache
that settled in our chest
As towers burned
and then they fell...
Did you cry like all the rest?
