Remember the Alamo, Remember the Aggies!

Texas A&M Faces Penn State in the Alamo Bowl

Shawn Zapalac
On December 29th the Aggies of Texas A&M will face the Nittany Lions of Penn State in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Penn State is 8-4 and ranked 32nd, while the Aggies are 7-5 and ranked 45th in college football. Neither program is experiencing the success they have in glory years of the past. The Alamo Bowl gives both teams a chance to end the season on a good note.

Penn State goes into the game with Joe Paterno at the helm who has been one of the more stable coaches in college football. Texas A&M goes into the game with an interim coach for the game and a new coach next season. A&M head coach Dennis Franchione resigned shortly after the Aggies beat the Texas Longhorns in the traditional Lone Star Showdown.

Penn State appears to have the advantage going into the bowl as their program is currently more stable. I disagree, and I am not pretending to be impartial. The underdog position is where Texas A&M excels as it is the home of the 12th man. The Aggies were not projected to "beat the hell out of t.u." the way they did a couple of weeks ago either.
