Remember When?
For My Chris
Valentine's Day was important?
When you and I were young
Just starting out
We didn't have much
But you got me a card and candy
Roses if you could afford it.
Remember when
Valentine's Day was romantic?
When you didn't have money
So you picked daisies by the road
Arranged them in a vase
And brought me breakfast in bed
It wasn't much but I adored it.
Remember when
Valentine's Day was Special?
When the kids were little
But you made the time
Mom watched the kids and
And we put on our best
to go out, If we could afford it.
Remember when
Valentine's Day was different?
From any other day
Now the kids are older
And we have more time for each other
We would rather stay home
Then go out, even though we can afford it.
