Remembered Always: A Father's Day Poem

Angel Sharum
Father's Day is a time of sadness and joy.

Joy, when I think of happy times.

Sadness, remembering they will happen no more.

A place, a movie, a song,

all bring back memories

of times long gone.

I still hear your laughter and see your smile.

I remember all you taught me

when I was a child.

The joy outweighs the sadness.

Most days.

I know this is as it should be, and you would want it that way.

Because you always told me not to worry,

live life to the fullest,

don't be in a hurry!

I relied on you,

right to the end.

With dignity and strength, you made death fight to win!

You are remembered, Diddy.

We miss you always,

and thank of you with love, this Father's Day.

Oh this is beautiful - I'm not much on poetry (can't write worth beans myself) but the wonderful relationship shows in these words.

I have no doubt that your father would have gotten a kick out of your writing. This is a lovely tribute to a special man.

No regrets, Angel! I believe he has already read your entire body of work, and did indeed get a kick out of them (including this fine tribute)!

One thing I regret, is that I started my writing after he was gone. I think he would have got a kick out of my stories!
