Remembering Her (Poem)

Dedicated to My Mother

Allana Calhoun
In her memory I write this
for today is a time
to remember and reminisce
of all that's passed in time

She was a wonderful mother
in her own special way
I'm sorry I never told her that
before she went away

She taught and disciplined me
with a harsh but loving strictness
Bringing me up to be
a lady of virtue and intelligence

I loved her with all of my heart
though I never told her so
She's the best mother I've ever had
and this I'll always know

[Poetry Notebook: 5/7/1992, her birthday]

nice poetry. Lost my mom in 1994. She had a hard life dealing with my father and died of lung cancer at 49. I agree with you, wished I had known her better
