Remembering Lost Loved Ones at Christmas

Another Christmas

Doug Clore
Another Christmas, feeling far from home,
I sit beside the ones I love the best.
My wandering heart is ever prone to roam,
And I become the victim of its quest.
Dreams of Christmas past somehow o'ershadow
This ordinary Yuletide's bland affair.
Modern day's monetized garish sideshow
Will never replace nostalgic elsewhere.
Perhaps some new tradition can repair
The loss now felt from changes through the years.
Then those of us who only sit and stare,
Might see beyond our lonely veil of tears.
Embrace those Christmas ghosts with smiles of pride.
Lost loved ones honored thus, with us abide.
